Matilda Movie Analysis
Reaction Shot-
In this scene of the movie is when Miss Trunchbull got the girl “Amanda” by her pigtails and spun around with her, then flinging her into the air. As the girl went flying in the air, everyone was in disbelief. In this shot you can see everyone's reaction conveyed by the actions of Miss Trunchball. You can see them looking up at the girl in the air with their mouths open in shock.
Close-up Shot-
In this scene Matilda is crying after her parents denied her request to go to school and to make matters worst, her brother then throwing things at her as well as calling her a name. This shot gives you to a close-up on Matilda's face, allowing you to see the tear coming from her eye and rolling down her cheek. You can see that she is crying, meaning she is sad and her feelings are hurt.
Medium Shot-
In this scene Matilda is getting in trouble after referring to her father as a"crook". In this angle you can tell that Matilda's father is upset with her by the look on his face and how sternly he is pointing at her. In this angle you can also see the height difference creating an even more intimidating feeling as he's point down at her. You can see how close he got her and on his face how upset he is with her.

In this scene you can see Amanda’s POV from when Miss Trunchbull swung her in the air by her pigtails. This angle confers how high Miss Trunchbull swung Amanda in the air. This shot creates a scary feeling for the viewer, putting them into Amanda’s perspective and seeing how terrifying that must be.
